This week I started writing a song intervention to be used with a couple of clients that struggle with communication. The song starts off by presenting the topic of conversation. Then, it prompts the client to make a statement about the topic. Next, the client is prompted to ask me a question about the topic. The placement of the music and lyrics is meant to leave space for the client to process each step of the intervention.

In creating this song, I noted how each beat that is used and every single word used had a purpose behind it. This reminded me of some guitar work I was doing with Noa earlier in the week. Noa and I talked a lot about how strum patterns should be used strategically to support the intervention. Different patterns and placements of rests, up strums, and down strums affects the outcome of the intervention.
